About Dr. Mizell
Dr. Louis L. Mizell is a dedicated and compassionate pediatric gastroenterologist with a wealth of experience in helping children with digestive issues. Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Mizell's journey in medicine began at Tulane University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Physics (1971-1975) and later graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine (1975-1979).
After completing his pediatric residency at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi (1979-1982), Dr. Mizell further specialized in pediatric gastroenterology through a fellowship at the University of Utah (1982-1984). He served in the United States Air Force until 1999, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, and has been in private practice in Utah since then.
With a genuine love for his work, Dr. Mizell is committed to providing the highest quality of care to his young patients and their families. He understands the discomfort and anxiety that come with childhood digestive disorders and strives to create a comfortable, nurturing environment where parents feel heard and children feel at ease.
Drawing from his extensive training and experience, Dr. Mizell takes a thoughtful approach to diagnosis and treatment, carefully considering each child's unique needs. He is well-versed in the latest advances in pediatric gastroenterology and is highly skilled in performing endoscopic procedures when necessary. However, he also recognizes the importance of avoiding unnecessary and expensive tests, focusing instead on delivering targeted, effective care.
Dr. Mizell has a special interest in treating children with abdominal pain, colic, constipation, gastroesophageal reflux, celiac disease, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and nutritional issues such as failure to thrive and food intolerances. He is committed to providing prompt care and will make every effort to accommodate children experiencing severe symptoms.

Jennifer Kelsch is a dedicated and experienced medical professional who has been an integral part of the Cottonwood Pediatric Gastroenterology team for the past 9 years. With nearly 17 years of experience in the medical field, Jennifer has developed a deep understanding of patient care and a genuine passion for helping families.
In 1994-1995, Jennifer earned her degree as a Medical Administrative/Executive Assistant and Medical Secretary, laying the foundation for her successful career in the medical field. Since then, she has worked in private practices and a variety of clinics, constantly expanding her knowledge and skills to better serve patients and their families.
At Cottonwood Pediatric Gastroenterology, Jennifer plays a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care in a warm, welcoming environment. Her friendly demeanor, attention to detail, and dedication to patient well-being make her an invaluable asset to the team and a trusted resource for the families she serves.
